Yogurt Bowl Recipes: 5 Delicious Combinations You’ll Dream About

High in protein, perfect for breakfast, snacks or dessert, and simply delicious, yogurt bowls are growing in popularity, for good reason! A great go-to, having a few great recipes in the locker is always a good idea to keep things interesting, and we’re here to introduce 5 of them today.

In our versions, we’ve swapped out yogurt for Biotiful Kefir yogurt, for a simple gut-healthy switch. Full of live cultures, by picking up Kefir Yogurt in the supermarket, you’re fuelling your gut with the beneficial microbes it needs to thrive, helping to improve immunity, enhance digestion, reduce bloating and so much more. Kefir is also very low in lactose, making it suitable for people with lactose intolerance. Of course, you can’t go wrong with a classic granola yogurt bowl recipe, but if you’re wanting to mix things up, we’ve got things covered.

Along with containing gut-loving Kefir, our recipes are also made with natural sugars, are high in natural sources of protein and high in fibre, helping to prevent those spikes that leave us feeling sluggish. Instead, our yogurt bowl recipes cater to our sweet tooth and leave us feeling satisfied.

How To Make Your Yogurt Bowl Base

To keep things simple, all of our yogurt bowl recipes start with the same base. This combination is high-protein and high in fibre, with healthy fatty acids, for the perfect balanced breakfast or snack.

For your base, simply combine:

  • 150g Kefir Yogurt (either the Original flavour, Rubie Raspberry, Madagascan Vanilla or Morello Cherry, depending on the recipe). We’ve recently released our Original Kefir Yogurt in 1kg, so you can buy one tub and you’re sorted for the whole week!

  • 1 tbsp each of Linwoods milled flax seed and chia seeds, rich in omega-3 fatty acids and fibre, great for heart health, digestion and providing anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory benefits

Without any other toppings, your bowl already has over 10 grams of natural protein and 7 grams of fibre!

5 Yogurt Bowl Toppings Recipe

Pina Colada: fresh and fruity

Starting off with a really simple but delicious yogurt bowl recipe that takes a few minutes to put together and will keep you full and satisfied. Squeeze the juice of half a lime into your Kefir yogurt base, then chop and add fresh pineapple to the top of your Kefir. Add coconut shavings to a saucepan and stir until golden. Sprinkle on top of your Kefir yogurt base, then grate a small amount of lime zest on top. The perfect summer breakfast or snack!

Cherry, peach, pistachio and honey: sweet and juicy

Being prepared and freezing a peach in advance is so worth it for this delicious yogurt bowl recipe, creating a peaches and cream style bowl with a gut-healthy twist thanks to the Kefir! Start with the Biotiful Kefir peach yogurt as your base, then chop up your pistachios and sprinkle over the top. Now for the fun part, take your peach out of the freezer and use a fine grater to transform this bowl into something really special. Finish with a drizzle of honey and enjoy!

Scrambled apple oats: warming, cosy and crunchy

Nothing quite beats an apple crumble, and with our scrambled apple oats yogurt bowl recipe, we’ve got it pretty close. Using Biotiful Kefir vanilla yogurt as your base, the natural sweetness is the perfect pairing for the scrambled oats topping. In a bowl, mash the banana, then add the oats, egg, chopped apple, honey, and cinnamon.

Heat a non-stick pan up to a medium heat, add your oat mixture in and fry for around 4-5 minutes like you would scrambled eggs, until it’s golden brown. Break the pieces up as you go to form clusters. Add this to your Kefir yogurt base and finish with a drizzle of almond or peanut butter for that warming nutty addition. If you’re a cinnamon lover add one more sprinkle and enjoy!

Chocolate orange: balanced and indulgent

  • Kefir base: original Biotiful Kefir Yogurt

  • 1 orange

  • 1 tbsp cocoa powder

  • 1 tbsp honey

  • 25g dark chocolate (ideally 70% or 85% cocoa)

  • Handful of chopped almonds or hazelnuts (optional)

We haven’t forgotten the chocolate lovers out there! Our chocolate orange yogurt bowl recipe is balanced, high in protein and delicious, so you can enjoy a sweet start to the day without a sugar spike. This one needs to be prepared the night before, but we promise it’s worth it.

Cut your orange in half and add the juice and zest from one half into your Kefir yogurt base. Save the other half. Sieve in the cocoa powder and mix well until combined, along with the tbsp of honey for sweetness. Melt the dark chocolate and pour it onto the chocolate orange base, creating an even layer. If adding the almonds or hazelnuts, sprinkle onto the chocolate layer whilst still liquid. Cover and place in the fridge overnight, or for at least 30 minutes.

When ready to eat, cut the remaining orange into segments and place on top of the chocolate. Break the chocolate layer with your spoon and enjoy this delicious treat that your gut will love you for!

Raspberry shortcake: crumbly and creamy

This healthy yogurt bowl recipe tastes like dessert, is filling and so nourishing. There’s a bit of prep but it’s 100% worth it. Blend 25g of the oats into a powder, then add to a bowl with the rest of the oats, the honey and the melted butter. Use your hands to rub the ingredients together, forming a crumbly mixture. You can create some larger clusters by squeezing the mixture between your fingers. Place on a baking tray and bake in the oven on 180 degrees for 20 minutes. It should be golden brown and smell delicious. This creates enough for one portion, or you can make a bigger batch to last a few days.

Sprinkle your shortcake mixture over the top of your raspberry Kefir yogurt base, then top with fresh raspberries. Creamy and so delicious, you’ll keep coming back to this recipe, we’re sure.
