Overnight oats ingredients
The base of our Kefir overnight oats couldn’t be simpler. It takes minutes to prep, then you can customise with so many different flavour combinations to mix things up (we have plenty of inspiration below, so keep scrolling).
The recipe below makes one portion, but feel free to multiply if you want to prep a few days in advance. The day before you are planning to eat them, simply mix the following ingredients together in a jar or tub and leave in the fridge overnight:
- 25g of rolled oats
- 100g of Kefir yogurt if you prefer a thicker consistency or 100ml Kefir drink for slightly thinner (we have plenty of flavours to choose from)
- 1tbsp chia seeds
- 1tbsp flax seeds

Now for the fun bit, with toppings! If you prefer variety throughout the week, then overnight oats is the perfect solution, as you can easily prep the base and then use your cupboard staples to mix it up each day. Plus, your gut loves variety too, particularly when it comes to plant based foods.
- Carrot cake: grated carrots, chopped walnuts, cinnamon and nutmeg
- Banoffee pie: chopped banana, layer of vanilla Biotiful yogurt, dark chocolate shavings
- Berry crumble: frozen berries, granola and a drizzle of honey

One of the easiest ways to increase the amount of fiber in your overnight oats is to add a tablespoon of chia seeds and flax seeds. Immediately you’ve added around 7 grams of fibre to your breakfast, plus they help to make your overnight oats a delicious pudding-like texture. If you then top your overnight oats with a serving of fruit, then chopped nuts or seeds, you can easily add another 7-10g of fibre! Taking the oats into account as well, you’ve got a breakfast with 17-20g of fibre, which is more than half of your recommended daily intake. If you’ve got protein goals to hit to support your muscle growth and recovery, there are some simple staples you can add to your overnight oats recipe. We’ve focused on natural sources of protein rather than protein powders to maximise the benefits for your gut:
